Terrier Ted’s incredible journey

Ted on a mission to get home

On Friday 27 April during a lovely walk in Trent Park in North London, Beddlington Terrier, Ted disappeared into the trees and much to his dog walker’s horror did not emerge. Several frantic hours later the search was joined by Ted’s mum and his other human flatmate.

Two-and-a-half very wet days later and after an extensive search joined by loads of local dog-walkers and residents, Ted was spotted near the entrance to Trent Park. Those who saw him reported that he was running around and looked panicky. Sadly they were not able to approach him, but called Ted’s mum in immediately.

Another late-night search followed but still the elusive Ted was not found. By now his family and friends were distraught, frustrated but more determined than ever. The search would continue in the morning.

Then, the early hours of morning brought with them a minor miracle… Alerted by Ted’s canine flatmate, German Shepherd Olive, flatmate Steve opened the front door, where a slightly bedraggled, waggy-tailed Ted stood patiently waiting to be let in.

Some six kilometers away from where he went missing – as the crow flies  that is, which is not likely to be the route Ted took -  Ted turned up on his own doorstep, alive, well and ready for dinner!

Check out Ted’s incredible journey on the map. Sightings of Ted are marked.

Thank you!

Thank you so much to all the local dog walkers, residents, shopkeepers, friends, strangers and canines who helped by looking, walking, shouting, fly-posting, tweeting, sharing, observing, phoning and caring. Ted’s back home now happy and very tired!

No thank you!

No thank you to the manager at Ferny Hill Farm Tea Rooms who wouldn’t let us leave a lost dog poster there. Yes, we were shocked too.
